Thankfully, our modern society, the corporate world, and even the common individuals have started talking about the cases of mental health and depression more seriously and positively.

The good thing about this case is that we don’t need to panic about it. The more we talk about this subject the more awareness and solution we create.

DIAGNOSIS IS TREATMENT

Mental health and depression can be and should be treated by the individual who is suffering from it. Self-treatment, indeed, is the best treatment.

Of course, I don’t intend to discourage others to seek expert’s and health specialist’s involvement in this matter. As we know: different problems have got different solutions.

As already said, the diagnosis itself is the treatment of depression. You should be proud of yourself and thank yourself if you have recognized and acknowledged your mental health problems.

Dealing with depression is indeed a moment of realization. It changes in your life gradually, and it changes it forever.

There are a few things we must strongly realize and accept in our lives to deal with depression:

YOU ARE THE SOURCE OF YOUR DEPRESSION NOT OTHERS

If you think your family members, or your friends or your enemies or your colleagues are the reason or source of your depression then, YOU ARE WRONG. You are the reason for your pain. You are the source of your depression.

The most immediate thing that you can do is stop blaming others for your pain. How can you so easily accept someone’s offense or ‘hurt’ thrown at you! Why do you even accept it! You are to blame because you are the one who accepted the garbage thrown at you. So, don’t accept someone’s garbage. I know, easier said than done, but practice this for a while, things will change slowly.

WHY THIS MUCH OF EGO INSIDE YOU

Ego is the biggest source of pain. If you stop for a while and look inside your pain, in most cases, you would realize that you are in pain because your ego has been hurt. Lesser the ego, happier the soul. Keep trimming your ego, and don’t let it grow.

DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY ARE GUESTS, THEY WILL GO

It’s almost normal to fall into the trap of depression and anxiety. It’s a part of your being. Depression is an unwanted guest. Let it come, though don’t welcome it. A guest, wanted or unwanted, has to leave after a while. Wait for them to leave, don’t fight with them. Just wait and they will be gone someday.

WHY ARE YOU SWIMMING AGAINST THE CURRENT

You are just a leaf of a tree, blow with the wind as all leaves do. Don’t fight against the current, flow with it. Why are you unnecessarily trying to change the world? There is nothing wrong with the world. If there is anything wrong, it is with you. Remember and keep reminding yourself, you are the source of your pain, not the other person.

MUST YOU REALLY CHANGE THE WORLD AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE

These so-called leaders and activists and politicians will get you killed if you keep following them blindly. Stay away from them. They can fight alone; this is how they are designed. Don’t worry about the Martin Luther Kings and the Gandhis. Many will come and go. You just take care of your job.

MUST YOU NEED ONLY HAPPINESS

Your happiness would eventually turn into unhappiness. Your unhappiness and happiness are attached to one another. You will not remain a sane person if you are always happy throughout the year. To feel happiness, you must experience sadness and pain. Don’t you want any night in your life? Then how would you appreciate the beauty of the day? The beauty of the sunshine!

WATCH YOUR GREED

Your greed for materialism and prestige will keep you mired in the mud. They are cheap thrills. Don’t let your greed turn cancerous. Use your greed as a tool for your success, but don’t let it turn cancerous.

WATCH YOUR LOVE & AFFECTION

If your loved ones, someday, don’t listen to you, or if they make decisions by themselves, you would be proportionately hurt. Treat your loved ones as wildflowers, don’t pluck them or try to own them.

WATCH YOUR ANGER

Anger is pure acid. It acts like acid in your body. It does make you feel the burning sensation in your body. Why should you burn yourself! Your anger and ego are interrelated. Watch them when they try to hurt you, and they should vanish.

WATCH YOUR PRESENT AND PRESENCE

Don’t cherish your good-time memories. They belonged to the past. Likewise, don’t re-live your bad times, they are already gone. Future dwelling is equally toxic. All you have is the present moment. Live in the present, and feel your presence in the current moments. Just witness your surroundings; they are equally fascinating.

WHY SO SERIOUS ABOUT LIFE

All you got is seventy or eighty years of time to live. Then, you would die, like Alexander the Great died, and so died the great Caesar. Positively, there is nothing serious about human life. Feel the life as much as you can, but don’t go serious about it. Life is all about living it! There is nothing indeed to lose.
